Recent Changes
& happy new year!
Happy New Year!
Today I want to share some recent changes to the Wumbo project and plans for the future.
More or less ads
You can now temporarily turn off ads on the site for 12 hours at a time by visiting the support page and clicking a button. No strings attached.
For the past 2-3 months, I’ve been experimenting with ads on the site as a way to fund the project. But I still want people to be able to enjoy the site without distraction. So, taking inspiration from the folks over at https://mathsisfun.com/, I’ve provided a way to temporarily disable ads. My hope is that this is a win-win situation, where the project gets some financial support and people who want to can turn off ads.
Looking forward
The main focus is still creating more math videos. I’m excited to share the next video I’ve been working on when it’s ready. Hopefully more on that soon. These videos take a lot of time to make, and I’m trying to find the right balance between making them and the other responsibilities in my life.
In the meantime, I want to share some recent changes to the site. I’ve been adding animations to pages like the sine function and also multiple-choice questions to pages like the radian angle system. I’d love to know what you think of this kind of supplemental material. I think it has a lot of potential, but I also wonder if it is a distraction from the new direction of trying to publish videos on a regular schedule.
Lastly, for those that use Figma, I updated the MathTeX Editor plugin I created a while ago that renders math expressions. I use this plugin all the time for rendering math expressions when illustrating figures and storyboarding videos. Go check it out, it’s free and I’ve added a bunch of features that are helpful and make it easier to use.
Best,
Kurt
